A Note from the Living Hope Children’s Ministry Team

A Note from the Living Hope Children’s Ministry Team

Hello Church Family!

We miss everyone and are looking forward to our return to “in-person” services!  We would like to present our plan to you of what our Children’s ministries will look like as we re-open for services beginning Sunday, September 6th. Some of this information you may already be familiar with as it is similar to our previous re-opening plan.  There are a few slight changes, so we ask you to read this all the way through and ask any questions for clarification. The Children’s team has spent time researching, praying, and coming up with a plan that we feel is best to re-open our ministries.

As we focus on a slow re-opening, we will not be offering a nursery during the Sunday School hour or during worship.  Those families with nursery age children are free to bring them along to their adult Sunday School class and during our family worship time in the auditorium.

We will have class time for our preschool and grade school classes. This class time will be the same as the adult class time from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.  Parents are welcome to check-in their child beginning at 8:50 am. At 10:00 am, your child will need to be picked up and accompany you to family worship in the auditorium.

The following safety guidelines will be implemented once we re-open:

  • Volunteers will wear a mask and have temperature taken

  • Children in grades 3rd-5th will need to wear a mask

  • Preschool-age Children and Kinder-2nd grade, masks will be optional.

  • Children will have temperature taken at check-in and sanitize hands upon entering KidsTown

  • No snacks will be served during class time

  • Individual supplies will be provided for each child

  • Grade school classes (Kinder thru 5th) will be distanced appropriately in their classroom

  • Once children have been checked-out, each classroom will be disinfected with appropriate cleaners and rooms closed off.

Preschool guidelines:

We love our preschoolers but getting them to understand “social distancing” might be a challenge!  Our plan is to begin class in the fellowship hall singing praise songs, then head to our classroom where structured activities and Bible time will take place. Our goal is to keep our preschoolers engaged in games, activities, crafts, and Bible Story until the 10 am pick up time; attempting to limit “free play” as much as possible.  We feel this is the best strategy to try and keep as much distance between children as possible.  All that being said, we know that preschoolers are also impulsive and have a mind of their own and there may be a chance some close interactions occur.   But our teachers will do their best to limit contact between children while still providing a loving, nurturing environment for them to learn more about Jesus!

Parents, we need your help with the following:

  • Please do not allow your preschooler to bring toys, stuffed animals, purses, jewelry, etc to class

  • Please do not send food or “sippy” cups to class.  If your child becomes thirsty and needs a drink, we will provide them one.

  • If your child is potty training, we ask you to send them in a pull-up for the class hour.  If a child were to have an accident, our space is limited at this time to change classrooms until the accident could be cleaned up.

For children that might not be ready to return to the classroom environment, that’s ok!  We know that some families are ready to come back to church and some families are not. We feel each family needs to make the decision that is right for them and we support you.  If you decide to return to church but just aren’t ready to send your child to KidsTown just yet, they are welcome to accompany you to your adult Sunday School class. Janice Longino is preparing activities that can be used during this time and the worship hour as well as activities for our friends who need to stay home a little bit longer.

If you should have any questions about any of our re-opening plans, please do not hesitate to contact Pam or Wendy.  They will try and answer any questions or concerns you might have.

We look forward to rejoining one another soon!

Blessings,

Living Hope Children’s Ministry Team
