Principles for Knowing God's Will for your Life
the Series
Good evening,
I hope you all had a chance to read my last devotional on how "You need to obey what you already know to be God's Will". If you remember, I will be discussing different principles to help guide you in to hearing God's Will for your life. Lets review:
- We first must be walking with God
- You must surrender your will to God
- You need to obey what you already know to be God's Will
- Seeking Godly input
I would like to discuss the fourth principle in being able to hear God's Will for your life, and that is you "seeking Godly people", people that can give you Biblical advice when needed. Do you have friends, or advisers in your life that you can trust what they say will line up with the bible? These people will speak truth, but they will do it in an encouraging way? I think many people can give truth in Black and White, but having that soft spoken encouragement can be the difference of actually listening and understanding. I feel it is imperative you surround yourself with at least 3-5 people who can be instrumental in helping you discern God's Plan for your life. If you surround yourself with people who are far from God, your hope of finding His Will for your life will slowly diminish , and possibly never happen.
Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety".
The Church is designed to help you accomplish your goals. I would encourage you to be in Church and Sunday School as often as you can. The more you involve yourself with other believers, the more God will start to reveal to you those whom he wants in your life. Start seeking out these people immediately. Ask them to be accountability partners. That means you need to build relationships with these people if you do not know them already. If you do know them, tell them with what you are struggling, and for what you need Prayer. Let them start praying for you that God will give them the words to help you in knowing God's Will for you.
My fifth principle is, "Paying attention to how God has made you". Here is a hint. If you are believer, God's Holy Spirit has given you a gift.
God bless,
E.
