Something that God has put on my heart to talk about today is
“Living for today, not tomorrow.”
The reason I would like to talk about this is that every day we are getting older as you know. Usually with age comes death. Imagine this: What if you had 5 minutes left to live; what would you do, or say? What if you did not know you had 5 minutes left?
I bring this up because we are not promised tomorrow. In Proverbs 27:1 it says, Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. I believe this verse can be used in many contexts. One of the ways I believe God wants us to understand it is by not waiting to receive Jesus as your Savior. Another way to take it is don't put off doing the will of God. The other is not waiting to share Christ with someone. And my final one is don't wait to tell someone you loved them.
James 4:13-15 says, Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say,“ If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.
So if you don't know what tomorrow holds, or even if you will be here tomorrow, then keep your focus on God. Trust in Him, and do His will today.
So did you answer my question at the beginning? What if you only had 5 minutes left to live and you knew it, what would you do? What if you only had 5 minutes left to live and didn't know it? There are many things that are going on in our personal lives, or family, and in our church. If you are still breathing after you read this I pray you will say, or do whatever you need to do. If God has been telling you to share Christ with someone, then call or go meet them. If God is telling you to mend a relationship then call them. If you need to forgive someone who has hurt you that may have no idea, call them. Finally, if you need to accept Jesus as your Savior do not wait one second longer.
If this is you, click here. There is a prayer at the end for you.
I would love to know if someone reading this wants to know more about Jesus and His love for you. I have known someone who was shot that never accepted Jesus. I have known people who have died in their sleep. I have known people live 80 plus years that never asked Jesus in their life and died. It is your responsibility as a believer to plant that seed if you know for a fact they are not a believer. I love the fact my sister-n-law Jamie is so bold to try and share Christ with her atheist friends, or pray for those who laugh at her for praying for them. She doesn't laugh back and say you will someday, but she cries in her heart for those that may die not knowing Christ. If you have the guts to share Christ with someone today will you do it? If you have the guts to call a friend or family member to repair a relationship will you do it? If you have the guts to invite someone to church for the first time will you do it?
We all need to say this: I will do what God leads me to do today.
I would love to know if you did do something today if your willing to share with me.
God bless,
E.
