Part 4 - The Heart of Evangelism

Going to Battle for God Series

So now we are in my fourth letter of Battle. If you have not been able to read the other devotionals concerning this series please go back and read them.

We have discussed
Believing – Jesus is the Son of God
All-in- willing to do whatever is necessary
Trusting – trusting God in your life

Today I would like to talk about Truth. Do you think that everything in the bible is true without exaggeration? Do you think when the disciples told their stories that every word was completely truthful? Many of them were fishermen, right? ;)
In Proverbs 30:5 it says, "Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him." So how can you use this verse to prove that every word in the Bible was inspired by God? What proofs do we have?
When speaking to a non believer, you can ask them how did we get the Bible in the first place? You can tell them for the past 1,500 years the men God had inspired to write them are true records and can be seen today. If the Bible can be shown to be a reliable document, accurately recorded through history, from God to us, then we can build a strong case that the Bible is indeed true.

Evidence for the Bible can take many forms. There is, for instance, physical evidence. We have copies of manuscripts that have been proven to be copied accurately. There is, however, different variants of the copies, but none of theses variants impact or change Christian beliefs or the claims. There are also the ruins, mountains, rivers, and so many other physical illustrations that the Bible backs up.
Although there are other examples to support the claim that the Bible is true, one of the most powerful is Jesus. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John present an accurate record of the life and ministry of Jesus. Jesus says in John 10:35, "If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken."

Matthew 5:17, Jesus said, "Do not think that I have not come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." Meaning that Jesus believed and trusted in the Old Testament 'Law' and 'Prophets.' Jesus also said, "It is written: Man does not live on bread alone, but on the every word that comes from the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4

Even Paul the Apostle admitted that if the resurrection did not happen, Christian faith is Futile; you are still in your sins. 1 Corinthians 15:17

For me I can just stop here with those words. You either believe Jesus was who He says He was, or you don't. If you do not, may God continue to show Himself to you.
People have to know that there is a hope in Christ in order to go to Heaven. You can't have Heaven without Christ. For all those other religions that do not believe Christ is the Son of God, they have no chance spending eternity in Heaven.
This is why this series is so important. We need to do everything in our power to pray that God will continue to speak to those who have not heard the Good News of Christ. We must be the ones to go and tell the people we work with, go to school with, and associate with in our everyday life.

This is my fourth night with this series. Have you prayed yet that God would give you an opportunity to share Christ with someone? Do you have a heart or concern for others that do not believe in Jesus? Do you know if everyone in your family believes in Christ? If you are not sure, I'm asking you to forward this devotional to them?

In closing, I pray that you read this very carefully. This may be the most convicting thing you have ever read concerning whether you care about your family, friends, and those you come across.

God bless,
E.

"So he called to him, Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in the water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire." But Abraham replied, "Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. And besides all this, between us and you a great chasm has been set in place, so that those who want to go from here to you cannot, nor can anyone cross from there to us." He answered, "Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment." Abraham replied, "They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them." "No, father Abraham," he said, "but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent." He said to him, "if they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead." Luke 16:24-25
