Part 5 - The Heart of Evangelism

Going to Battle for God Series

So now we are in my fifth letter of Battle. If you have not been able to read the other devotionals concerning this series please go back and read them.

We have discussed:
Believing – Jesus is the Son of God
All-in - willing to do whatever is necessary
Trusting – trusting God in your life
Truth - believing everything in the Bible is true

Today I would like to talk about the letter L for “Love”. Do you have any idea how much God loves each one of you? God has chosen to show His love by giving his only Son to die on a cross so that we may live for eternity with Him.

In John 3:16, it says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

This is the one verse that you can share to help show God's love, but also show the only way to spend eternity with Him. Jesus did not come in the world to condemn the world, but to come as a sacrifice for those who will believe in Him.

John 3:17-18 says, "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

When sharing Christ with an unbeliever you should really be in prayer how your words come across. Sometimes we can speak to someone and it comes across harsh, demanding, and even judgmental. This will only cause fear and resentment to whom you are speaking to. Sometimes people are not ready to make an immediate commitment because of the faith it takes. For others, it could be they need time to analyze it in their mind so they can make a rational decision. For both of these cases, you have to be able to just share what the scriptures say. Tell them how God changed your heart and be willing to walk away and let God do the rest. You should never force it and they should never accept it until they are ready. Remember this, while Jesus was sharing His truth He did not force people to believe in Him. However, He was constantly showing Himself to be who He claimed to be. Even with all the miracles taking place in front of their eyes, many still were not convinced He was the Son of God.

I believe God has given us these verses so that we can share the importance of His truth and His Love. I hope and pray that the people you share Christ with will see God's love and be willing to accept Jesus in their heart. May you be blessed, and find it encouraging knowing you are doing the will of God. All God has asked of you is to go spread the Good News and let Him make your efforts grow.

1 Corinthians 3:6-7 says, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow."

Be courageous, be willing, and show love,
E.
